An electrical fault out at sea has a nasty habit of ruining the best day of the season. That’s why onboard systems shouldn’t just be fixed when they break: they should be checked before they do.
On the boats we look after we run a scheduled check-up: panel by panel, cable by cable, device by device, and we put hands on what needs hands on. Not to pad the bill — to catch a problem in the yard instead of out at sea.
When a boat is older, or coming through us for a refit, we go beyond the check: we rebuild the system from scratch, with clean wiring and materials that last. It’s the right time to do it properly, once.
